When a sewing machine experiences issues such as thread breaking, tension problems, or skipped stitches, it halts a project in its tracks. Under the Hood $125
A deeper inspection and care session for home machines, including:
-
Cover removal and internal inspection
-
Lubrication of internal components
-
Checking timing and internal adjustment areas
-
Hands-on guidance for understanding your machine’s mechanics
This is still within the scope of my apprenticeship, and I provide full transparency about the work performed.
Cover removal + oiling + checking internal components
For simple in-home machines, get a thorough under-the-hood inspection. This includes removing the cover (if possible) to assess internal components for wear and tear, checking gear connections, ensuring proper bearing lubrication, evaluating belt function, and oiling metal parts as needed. Maintain your machine for longevity and keep it out of landfills without breaking the bank.
Things to understand:
Not all sewing machine covers are easy to remove on simple machines, and the tabs may break during removal.
If a repair is needed, you will be notified and given the option to choose another shop in the area.
Why Preventive Maintenance Matters
Sewing machines are precision instruments. Regular maintenance:
-
Prevents minor issues from becoming major repairs
-
Ensures consistent stitch quality
-
Extends your machine’s lifespan
-
Saves money over time
As a sewing educator, I combine maintenance with instruction, so you leave with the knowledge and confidence to care for your machine.
Learning While Repairing
I’m not just maintaining equipment; I’m helping you understand it. This educational approach empowers home sewers to:
-
Check and clean their machines safely
-
Troubleshoot minor problems themselves
-
Maintain consistent performance between professional visits
Whether your machine needs a quick tune-up, troubleshooting guidance, or a deeper inspection, I offer tiered service options to meet your needs.
